Production DevOps & Cloud Systems Fellowship
An elite, hands-on production fellowship designed for engineers who want to build, automate, and operate distributed infrastructure at scale. You won't be writing hello-world scripts; you will provision real multi-region Kubernetes clusters, engineer zero-downtime GitOps pipelines, build automated incident remediation bots, and maintain 99.99% uptime for production workloads.
12-Week Production Syllabus
From Kernel Namespaces to Multi-Cluster Kubernetes
A production-grade roadmap built around real engineering rigor. Every module culminates in hardened hands-on labs executed on live cloud infrastructure.
Linux Kernel Internals, Systems & Low-Level Networking
Master the operating system that powers the internet. Deep dive into Linux namespaces, cgroups v2, systemd units, process isolation, POSIX signals, TCP/IP handshake internals, iptables/eBPF, and high-speed bash automation.
Core Engineering Competencies
- Linux Namespaces & Cgroups
- TCP/IP, UDP, DNS & TLS Internals
- Systemd Services & Timers
- Process State, Signals & Strace Triage
- Bash & POSIX Scripting at Scale
Hands-on Production Labs
Tools & Technologies Used:
Production Capstones
Real Infrastructure. Zero Toy Projects.
Fellows architect and deploy three complex distributed systems architectures, thoroughly tested with synthetic loads and simulated failures.
Zero-Downtime Multi-Environment GitOps Engine
Architect and build an enterprise-level GitOps delivery platform that syncs microservices from repository commits straight to Kubernetes with automated canary analysis, ephemeral PR environments, and Slack notification webhooks.
Architecture Blueprint:
- GitHub Actions CI triggers container build, security scans (Trivy), and pushes to AWS ECR.
- ArgoCD watches GitOps manifests repo and reconciles staging and production namespaces.
- Flagger orchestrates canary releases using NGINX ingress traffic shifting.
Immutable Self-Healing AWS Infrastructure with OpenTofu
Provision a production AWS topology from scratch using modular Infrastructure as Code. Includes custom VPC, bastion security, auto-scaling worker nodes, automated backups, and drift alerting.
Architecture Blueprint:
- Three-tier VPC with public, private, and database subnets across 3 Availability Zones.
- Terraform state secured in S3 with state-locking via DynamoDB table.
- Automated drift detection cron running in GitHub Actions with tfsec auditing.
Distributed Observability Mesh & Automated SRE Bot
Construct an enterprise observability hub combining metrics, logs, and distributed traces. Integrates an automated remediation webhook bot that captures pod logs and auto-restarts stale processes.
Architecture Blueprint:
- Prometheus scraping 4 golden signals from cluster workloads and node-exporters.
- OpenTelemetry collector receiving traces and exporting to Grafana Tempo.
- Alertmanager firing webhooks to a custom Go remediation handler on CPU saturation.
Fellowship Advantages
Why Train With Orivian Labs?
We don't run video lecture courses. You work side-by-side with senior engineers on high-traffic production architectures.
Production-Grade Access
Direct access to sandboxed AWS & GCP clusters with zero artificial toy environments.
1-on-1 Senior Staff Mentorship
Paired with Orivian Labs infrastructure leads for weekly code reviews, PR audits, and architecture roasts.
Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) Pathway
Exceptional fellows receive direct full-time engineer offers upon completion of the fellowship.
Real SRE On-Call Simulations
Participate in simulated midnight fire drills, blameless post-mortems, and live chaos engineering drills.
Paid Cloud & Tooling Subsidy
Full coverage of AWS/GCP computing bills, Docker subscriptions, and GitHub Enterprise tooling during the track.
Permanent Open Source Portfolio
All capstone artifacts and Terraform modules are published under your GitHub profile.
